While the USA has been supplying Saudi Ariba with arms that have been used in The Yemen Genocide, not only are we not intervening in those horrific actions, which include the targeted bombings of churches, schools, hospitals and even funerals... Trump has now defended the murder of a journalist, who was tortured to death in an extremely vicious manner, with all fingers pointing to those in power of Saudi Arabia. Trump has cleared the King of Saudi Arabia of any wrongdoing, with a phone call, he stated prior to the call that it was most likely just a group of rouge Saudi assassins. Then once the Saudi's told him they had nothing to do with it, he cleared them. This journalist was highly critical of the Sudai regime, he was a threat to them and certainly was seen as an enemy. With Trump's stated hatred of the press, and that of liberal press outlets, this action should not be seen as anything but a biased and dangerous choice.
While many would defend his actions as diplomatic, after all that was the story after the North Korean summit. Yet you can be diplomatic, you can even build bridges without compromising the integrity of the country you claim to hold so dear. Yes, building relations with rogue powers can be a good thing, but not when it sets a dangerous precedent. He may claim to do these acts out of peace, but how does it set a precedent for peace by selling arms? To lead by example as his staff and supporters claim he is doing, he can not allow a country to think abhorrent acts will be tolerated. To be diplomatic you have to set some kind of standards, he is showing them that he only cares if they act respectful to him, which does nothing for world peace, politics or anything than his own ego.
You can approve of a leader, while disapproving of certain actions, however, our leader is not strong enough to do so. He could build bridges with both powers while taking a stand against certain actions, this is how the rest of the world builds relations with other countries. You can pat these evil men on the back and validate everything wrong they are doing, you will gain allies that way, but are they the kinds of allies we want? If we are encouraging death and destruction while providing the tools to do so, all in the name of peace, what kind of peace are we creating?
