I can not in good conscious see the world reacting with such hate and stay silent, people of color have been demonized and hated for no reason other than they were different and it gave whites a feeling of superiority... If you study history you will see a pattern of people in power, white people using that power to oppress anyone they deemed less worthy... Whites enslaved millions, women, children... It did not matter, whites ripped families apart and abused a group of people who did nothing to us. I am not a social justice warrior; though if your only reason for hating this post is the stigma attached to those who fight against injustice, I could care less if I reach you. If you see the injustice that takes place on a daily basis and do nothing about it, you never will... Do we know what to do all the time? Hell no!
But; I know this all the time, staying silent and doing nothing about the pain, suffering, and injustice we see in this world will never do any good. Are you a fan of Star Wars, Final Fantasy, Star Trek, Lord Of The Rings, TriGun, Cowboy Bebop, Dragon Ball Z, Superman, Batman, Spiderman and the countless heroes of our greatest and most cherished stories? They were made to inspire good in people, no different than the Bible really... If you look at art as something only meant to entertain, I feel sorry for you. You have never found a piece of art to touch your soul, something that gives you inspiration to fight for something greater than yourself... That is a true tragedy because I can see no one being happy living a life that way, why do you think those in power cling to it so tightly? If you seek to empower yourself to rule over a people, to manipulate them and control their right of life because you want more than you ever deserved, you will find yourself empty and alone. Yet that does not matter to those in power... They are content as long as they stay in power.
They do not care for those that they disenfranchised, left without help and allowed to be indiscriminately slaughtered. They do not care because if they cared it would break them and destroy their supposed happiness. But why do those on the lowest portion of the totem pole not care, poor white people who are in the same boat as the poor people of color, why would they ever side with those in power? Fear... Sadly, when we are terrified we make horrible choices; people of color who are in fear of not eating, not having a home for their family or a fear of just being shot in the street for no reason will make bad choices too. If you're white and poor sure life sucks, but you have no clue how easy you have it. It is always harder for us to empathize with others than ourselves, this is all you have to know though; do you have a kid, a younger brother, a younger sister, someone you love dearly? What if they were killed all cause of the color of their skin, you see white people wanting these black men who gunned down cops executed; but, have you thought maybe they were sick of seeing so many they cared about, so many good people just gone for no reason? Is their violent response justified, I truly do not know... But I know this, I understand that a hell of a lot more than people who think gunning down a child is OK, so long as they are a different color....
Racism is alive, it is alive because it keeps us divided, it is the weapon of choice for those in power. The ignorant allow it to live by feeding it, we have to stop feeding it by standing up to real forms of racism. Racism is to hate someone for no reason other than the color of their skin, or not care at all because of a preconceived lack of relatability. It is a lie to say only those in power are racist or use racism, it would not work if racism was not alive in some people's hearts. Some people are utterly corrupted by fear and as Yoda said, "Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering." African Americans have been slaughtered by police and our army, look to the 1967 race riot in Detroit; that could happen again this time to the Native's who suffered a similar fate at Wounded Knee... Has History taught us that hate, racism, and indifference does nothing good... Have these people not suffered enough? Many of them have lived by the lyrics of the great Beatles song, Let It Be to try and simply endure; does that strength not inspire you to stand with them, to stand for them?

Let it be, Across the Universe's haunting portrayal of the Detroit race riots.
