New Zealand Mosque Assaulted by Terrorists

By now, I am sure most have heard the details of the horrific act of terror committed in New Zealand. While there are some details that I think are worth mentioning, the first thing that deserves and needs to be mentioned, is the strength, the faith, the love, and the incredible inspiration that those of the Muslim faith are. This faith has been put through such torment, and yet they remain ever faithful, compassionate and courageous.
My respect for the Islamic faith and those who follow it's beautiful teachings could not be higher, and if you ever meet someone of the faith, or study it, you will find that it is a faith of love and compassion. I was overwhelmed by how beautiful the teachings are, I was not raised with them, yet I find great value in them. It is not the faith I knew, yet it is just as beautiful and meaningful.
It may seem over the top to talk this way to some, but I think every time something like this happens, we need to learn from it. We need to bury the hate, we need to adjust our minds and see things for what they are, not what we thought they were. We can use these horrible acts, to spread love, to spread knowledge, to do the opposite of the killer's goal. They want to divide us, they want to create fear and panic, that is the goal of any terrorist, you do not allow them to have their way.
They are like spoiled brats who are not getting their way, so they pitch a fit and destroy all that is good, just to force their goals. It stems from fear and ignorance, and we can put an end to those things with knowledge.
What is sick, is that these killers took the time to gain knowledge of weapons, tactics and trained to be better, more efficient takers of life. They took the time to write pages of hate and fear, they spoke against the fear of immigrants, while traveling from Australia in one of the killer's cases, to carry out this attack in New Zealand, just to make their point. They had to become what they feared, to prove their own point, they were immigrants looking to cause harm, based on the idea that immigrants cause harm. This is one of the details worth going over a couple times, did they realize, they were what they were afraid of?
Because this only proves that we should not fear immigrants, it took an immigrant fearing other immigrants to commit an act of violence. That fear would not even have been there, had many other voices not shouted their agreement. People are afraid this act will inspire more violence, but most of us know these people are crazy, we wouldn't listen to them, even if they told us to subscribe to PewDiePie. However, too many people listen to those in positions of power, who thoughtlessly speak their own personal hate and bigotry as if it was the country's policy.
We need to address the fact that no one needs a damn assault weapon, we need to address the bigotry that creates such passionate hatred. But most of all, we need to educate people and create an atmosphere of love, hope and understanding. Terrorists want to create fear, disillusionment, hopelessness, and there is no reason to give them what they desire. I am sure those who lost their lives would hope that good, not evil would come from this, that it would have the exact opposite of the intended effect.
So while there are details worth mentioning, do not lose sight of the subject that must be mentioned, we must turn tragedy into hope. In moments of terror, we can turn to courage and love, then we can never lose. Salaam Alaikum to all my Muslim brothers and sisters, that means Peace be unto you for my other brothers and sisters.
